Capisco use traditional etching techniques to create outstanding results.

Capisco have created beautiful textured effects for a range of applications.

Etched metal can be the perfect method to add dimensionality to your projects.

We’ve used the process to create embossed signage and luxury commercial, hospitality & residential interiors.

Understanding the Etching Process

We recommend on using 1.5 mm brass as a minimum.

For a crisp finish we use a vinyl resist prior to etching.

The piece is then placed in the non-toxic etching solution.

Depending on the depth of the etch required this process can take a few days to pass our quality control.

All wastewater and etching solution is disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.

We can then colour the material to any of our patinas. We

Please note - For dense text we would recommend using an epoxy ink and screen-printing on top of our patinas - a technique used for the British Museum.

Etching can be polished back to create a light/dark effect. The final piece will be treated with several coats of a hard wax to protect the surface.

We offer our ‘open etch patina’ as a standard sample available for order. For other projects we will have to create a custom sample to act as a starting point.

We can provide fabrication services for our etched projects. For an excellent example see the mihrab we created for Cambridge Mosque.

The final raised finish can be polished back - making it an excellent choice for signage or decorative finishes.
