John Rylands Library Extension

When creating an extension to a Grade 1 Listed building you are bound to face challenges. Especially if that building is the ornate Neo-Gothic creation by Basil Champneys from 1900.

The Library was built in the 1890s by Mrs Enriqueta Rylands in memory of her husband John who was Manchester's most successful cotton tycoon.

It is a major visitor attraction, an internationally-renowned place for research and one of the most important rare book and manuscript libraries in the world.

Capisco supplied their VB5 patina for the impressive 5 storey extension which was the recipient of a RIBA award in 2008.
