One Bedford Avenue
Bennets Associates
Located on the corner of Tottenham Court Rd, One Bedford Avenue is a project that allowed Capisco to test our etching capabilities.
The interiors feature 108 square metres of patinated materials which 32 metres is etched metals. In the 1950s and 1960s, Tottenham Court Road was known for radio and electronics equipment and many kinds of electro-mechanical and radio parts. The etched ’computer board’ design is a subtle nod to the history of the site - as the former hub of the electronics retail industry. The building features several other references including a morse code pattern on the staircase ball and an artwork by Lilah Fowler.
The etching was done using traditional techniques in our workshop. The chemicals we use are the same as those used to etch copper circuit boards.
All the panels were patinated to our Standard patina code CAP55.
